Beim Esel kann im Vergleich zum Pferd das Einführen einer Nasenschlundsonde oder eines Tracheotubus wie auch die orotracheale Intubation im Rahmen einer Inhalationsnarkose erschwert sein. Diese Probleme können durch die in diesem Beitrag vorgestellten speziesspezifischen anatomischen Unterschiede im Bereich der oberen Atemwege erklärt werden.
