Etwa ein Drittel aller Frauen leidet in den ersten Wochen nach einer Geburt unter Kopfschmerzen. Häufig sind diese Beschwerden eine harmlose Stressreaktion des Körpers auf die Geburt und damit selbstlimitierend. Gelegentlich können postpartale Kopfschmerzen aber auch Zeichen einer seltenen, lebensbedrohlichen Komplikation der modernen Geburtshilfe sein.
