Case Presentation

Female neonate of 37+5 weeks gestation with prenatally diagnosed gastroschisis after initial induction of labor and secondary c-section due to non-reassuring heart sounds. Vigorous newborn without need for invasive support. A sterile bag was placed over the herniated contents, and the patient was transferred to the operating room. During the initial surgical examination, a herniated Fallopian tube was noted through the abdominal wall defect ([Fig. 1]). The presence of other associated malformations was excluded. All herniated abdominal contents were reintroduced into the abdominal cavity and a primary closure of the defect was performed with good respiratory and hemodynamic tolerance. Intra-abdominal pressures were checked through a bladder catheter and were found to be in the normal range throughout the postoperative period. The patient is developing well, with adequate weight gain and no other symptoms.
