Introduction

A rare disorder known as imperforate hymen is characterized by congenital obstruction in the hymen. It can occur once every 1000 women. The majority of cases are diagnosed in teenage years and present with symptoms of an expanding pelvic mass, bulging mass in the vagina, abdominopelvic pain and absence of mensturation. Ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are used to evaluate patients with hemato/hydrocolpos. The cystic dilatation is observed in the vagina and this dilatation resulting in notable compression on the anterior urinary bladder and the posterior rectum in the cases of imperforate hymen, typically. Dilatation in uterin cavity and fallopian tubes may be observed in some cases.

Adult cases previously published in the literature are micro perforated cases. We reported a case of imperforate hymen in a 24-year-old adult patient with urinary retention symptoms had amenorrhea.
