Geschlechtsspezifische Unterschiede bei axialer Spondyloarthritis

Zusammenfassung
Die axiale Spondyloarthritis (axSpA) weist geschlechtsspezifische Unterschiede in Genetik, Klinik, Diagnosestellung und Therapieansprechen auf. Obwohl die Erkrankung lange als Männer-dominierte Erkrankung galt, zeigen neuere Daten ein Verhältnis von etwa 3 Männern : 2 Frauen. Die geschlechtsspezifischen Unterschiede im Phänotyp führen zu einer späteren Diagnosestellung bei Frauen. Die Krankheitslast – insbesondere für Schmerzen und Fatigue – ist bei Frauen höher und führt zu einer stärker eingeschränkten Lebensqualität im Vergleich zu Männern. Zudem unterscheidet sich das Therapieansprechen zwischen den Geschlechtern, wobei sich bei Frauen insgesamt eine geringere Wirksamkeit der Behandlung zeigt.
