Severe sensori-neutral hearing loss occurred in Sweden 1971—1972 in 14 children subsequent to haemophilus influenzae meningitis. The total number of haemophilus influenzae meningitis during this period was probably about 400. Eleven children had been treated with Ampicillin alone, one with “triple therapy” and 2 with a combination of both.
