Multiple intracranial tumors of diverse origin: Report of a case with review of literature

Summary
A case with two intracranial tumours of different origin is presented, the first a left parietooccipital parasagittal meningioma and the second an astrocytoma of the third ventricle. The signs of the second tumour arose, and developed quickly, a short time after removal of the meningioma. Review of the literature dealing with multiple and different brain tumours is presented. Difficulties of diagnosis of both tumours together are discussed.
Zusammenfassung
Es wird ein Fall mit zwei intrakraniellen Tumoren verschiedener Histologie beschrieben; der erste Tumor war ein parieto-occipitales Meningeom, der zweite ein Astrocytom im Bereich des 3. Ventrikels. Die Symptome des zweiten Tumors traten kurze Zeit nach der Entferung des Meningeoms auf und entwickelten sich rasch. Es wird ein Überblick über die Literatur gegeben, die von mehrfachen und verschiedenen Hirntumoren berichtet. Die Schwierigkeit der Diagnose beider Tumoren gleichzeitig wird besprochen.
Résumé
Présentation d'un cas de deux tumeurs cérébrales d'origine différente, l'une un méningiome parasagittal-pariéto cccipitalet l'autre un astrocytome du 3ème ventricule. Les signes de la deuxièmetumeur apparurent et se développèrent rapidement peu après l'ablation du méningiome.
Revue de la littérature relative à des tumeurs cérébrales multiples et d'origine différente. La difficulté de diagnostic des deux tumeurs à la fois est discutée.
Resumen
Se presenta un caso con dos tumores intracerebrales de distinto origen, el primer tumor un meningioma parieto-occipital parasagital del lado izquierdo, y el segundo un astrocitoma del tercer ventrículo. Los síntomas del segundo tumor se presentaron y se desarrolla – ron rápidamente poco tiempo después de haber extirpado el meningioma.
Se presenta una revisión de la bibliografía que trata de tumores múltiples y de diferente tipo en el cerebro.
Se discuten las dificultades diagnóstical de ambos tumores simultáneos.
