Summary
Serial coagulation studies were performed in two patients during the immunizing phase of Weil's disease with a haemorrhagic diathesis, largely due to vascular-platelet disorder. Heparin tolerance, recalcification time, partial thromboblastin time, factor activities of the prothrombin complex and fibrinolytic activity were essentially normal in both patients, while fibrinogen concentration and antithrombin activity were significantly increased. In one patient fibrinogen, factor V and antithrombin activity fell markedly shortly before death.
