Zusammenfassung
Es wird über eine auffallende Zunahme schwerer Wirbelspaltbildungen seit den Vorkriegsjahren auf Grund einer Auszählung von ca. 49 000 Aufnahmen der Klinik berichtet. Gründe für die Zunahme mußten bis jetzt offen bleiben.
Summary
The incidence of congenital spinal malformations (meningocele, myelocele and meningomyelocele) among a total number of admissions of over 33,000 since 1951 was 6.41 per thousand newborns and 2.56 per thousand total admissions, compared with 0.39 per thousand newborns and 1.87 per thousand total admissions among over 15,000 admissions between 1936—1939. The cause of this increase remains unknown.

El problema del aumento de las malformaciones graves
Se informa sobre un llamativo aumento de las malformaciones de escisión vertebral desde los años de anteguerra con motivo del examen de cerca de 49.000 ingresos en la clínica. Las razones de dicho aumento están por aclarar hasta el presente.
