Summary

A report on treating erythroblastosis foetalis with Periston N (12—15 ccs/kilogram bodyweight, 1—2 i.v. injections daily) supplementary to blood transfusions. Excepting one case of hydrops universalis foet., 15 children receiving this treatment could be saved. In no case did icterus develop or the skin jaundice deepen after the treatment had started. Anaemia of the children could be reduced. It is suggested that the effects of Periston N are due to quick elimination of bilirubin, and to an influence — so far only hypothetically assumed — on the antibodies.
