Zusammenfassung

Die komplexen Krankheitsbilder der Knochen– und tiefen Weichgewebsinfektion sind die Hauptindikationsgebiete der lokalen Antibiotikatherapie und ihre richtige Anwendung trägt entscheidend zum Therapieerfolg bei. In der Vergangenheit haben sich v.a. Gentamicin–beladener Knochenzement, Kugelketten und Kollagenschwämme in der Behandlung durchgesetzt. Neuere Entwicklungen gehen hin zur Verwendung von unterschiedlichen Antibiotika u.a. Trägermaterialien. Ein weiterer Ansatz ist die direkte Antibiotikabeschichtung von Prothesen oder Osteosynthesen. Die Forschungserfolge am Einsatz in vitro und am Tiermodell lassen in nächster Zeit zahlreiche Marktneueinführungen erwarten.

Abstract

The complex situation of bone and soft tissue infection is the most frequent indication for local antibiotic therapy. Proper application of antibiotics is essential to treat this situation successfully. In the past, gentamicin–loaded bone cement, chains of antibiotic–loaded beads and collagen sponges have become widely accepted as the most common treatment. New developments include the utilization of other antibiotics or carriers, and the direct antibiotic coating of orthopaedic devices and vascular grafts. Success in research in vitro as well as in animal models allow for anticipation of the introduction of several new products in the near future.
