ABSTRACT

Intra-articular migration of an epiphysiodesis staple is an unreported complication in the literature. We report the case of a 16-year-old boy who presented with a loose distal femoral epiphysiodesis staple migrated into the posterior compartment of the knee joint. During arthroscopy, a posteromedial cap-sulotomy and a posterolateral portal were used and the staple was removed. This case highlights the potential complication of staple intra-articular migration and the arthroscopic approach to removal.
