Selektive VDR-Aktivierung – Ein Fortschritt in der Geschichte der Nephrologie

Die Entwicklung und Einführung der selektiven VDR-Aktivatoren wird mittlerweile als wichtiger Schritt in der -Geschichte der Nephrologie angesehen. Aufgrund ihrer selektiven VDR-Aktivierung erhöhen sie im Gegensatz zu Vitamin D nur marginal die intestinale Kalzium- und Phosphatabsorption [1]-[3]. Das erlaubt es, sie ausreichend hoch zu dosieren, um ihre erwünschten Effekte voll zu nutzen - nicht nur zur effektiven Kontrolle des sekundären Hyperparathyreoidismus (sHPT), sondern auch zur Kardio- und Renoprotektion. Nach neuesten Befunden sind die günstigen Effekte der selektiven VDR-Aktivatoren offenbar umso größer, je höher sie dosiert werden - das erläuterte Prof. Kamyar Kalantar-Zadeh, Los Angeles (USA), beim 32. Nephrologischen Seminar im Januar 2011 in Bamberg.
