Die hypertrophe Shuntvenenwand ist unabhängig von dem Fibrosegrad, der Morphologie (Aneurysma, Dilatation, Stenose etc.) und dem vaskulären Versorgungsmuster regelhaft ein gut geeignetes Substrat zur Anwendung plastisch-chirurgischer Techniken. Lediglich eine ausgeprägte Verkalkung steht einer solchen Vorgehensweise entgegen.
The hypertrophic wall of the arterialized shuntvein is, independant of its degree of fibrosis, of its morphology (aneurysm, dilatation, stenosis etc.) or its vascular supply, a suitable material to apply plastic surgical techniques within the low-pressure compartment of the shunt vein. Only a severe calcinosis of the vein wall can prevent the surgeon from applying these techniques.
