Die ambulant erworbene Pneumonie (Community acquired Pneumonia: CAP) ist in westlichen Ländern die Hauptursache von infektionsbedingter Morbidität und Mortalität. Die ambulante Therapie stellt eine etablierte Behandlungsmethode dar: Sie ist nicht nur kosteneffizient, sondern ist auch bei gut aus-gewählten älteren Patienten mit einem besseren funktionellen Outcome assoziiert.
