Das Sarkoid ist mit einer Prävalenz von 1–12 % der häufigste Hauttumor bei Pferdeartigen; also Pferden, Eseln, Maultieren, Mauleseln und Zebras. Sowohl bei seiner Induktion als auch bei der Progression spielen Traumen eine entscheidende Rolle. Ist die korrekte Diagnose gestellt, sollte bei allen Sarkoiden eine wirksame, individuell angepasste Therapie durchgeführt werden.
