Die Physikalische und Rehabilitative Medizin im Wandel – Entwicklungen der Fachgebietsdefinition auf deutscher und internationaler Ebene

Im Kontext des Fortschrittes bedeutet Stillstand zwangsläufig Rückschritt

Auf das Thema dieses Editorials bezogen, bedeutet diese allgemeine Erkenntnis, dass sich das Fachgebiet der Physikalischen und Rehabilitativen Medizin (PRM¹) angesichts des Fortschrittes der Medizin und der Veränderungen in anderen medizinischen Fächern kontinuierlich und dynamisch weiterentwickeln muss. Neben der wissenschaftlichen Basis und klinischen Praxis betrifft dies naturgemäß auch die Fachgebietsdefinition, die sich seit den 1950er-Jahren bereits kontinuierlich und substanziell verändert hat, und sich auch im internationalen Kontext dynamisch fortentwickelt. Damit verbunden war und ist eine deutlicher Perspektivwechsel von der Fokussierung auf die Anwendung physikalischer Therapien („Physikalist“) hin zu einer umfassenden klinisch-ärztlichen Betreuung von Menschen mit Erkrankungen, die mit Funktionsstörungen und Behinderungen einhergehen („Rehabilita­tionsarzt“) [1].
