Abstract
Myofacial trigger points are often responsible for pain and dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system. They represent a wide-spread phenomenon in human population as well as in daily physiotherapeutic practice.
The aim of this study was to investigate the intertester reliability of the myofacial trigger point palpation in the vastus medialis obliquus muscle.
27 subjects participated in the study. The results show very good reliability for “pain recognition”, followed by “referred pain”, “tender spot”, taut band” and “local twitch response”. This study demonstrates very good reliability concerning “active trigger points” and a moderate reliability concerning “latent trigger points”.
