Das niederländische Biotechnologieunternehmen Micreos hat mit Staphefekt™ ein bakterienabtötendes Enzym speziell gegen Staphylococcus aureus entwickelt, das gegen methicillinresistente Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) wie methicillinsensitive Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) gleichermaßen effektiv wirkt. Dr. Bjorn Herpers präsentierte die neue Technologie auf der Konferenz „Antibiotic alternatives for the new millennium“ in London vom 5.–7. November 2014.
