Summary

This paper provides an overview of diseases caused by Bordetella avium, Gallibacterium anatis, Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale, Riemerella anatipestifer and Enterococcus cecorum in poultry flocks. These bac terial species are almost exclusively found in birds. Their identification with biochemical methods is described and alternative molecular biological methods are discussed.
