A case of Silent Sinus Syndrome
Silent sinsu syndrome(SSS) is a condition which commonly has asymphtomatic and painless presentation. It consists of a painless facial asymmetry and enophtalm which are due to atelectasis of the maxillary sinus. In most of the cases is clinicaly-based , however an imaging study must be performed to be confirmed. CT scan evidence of SSS include: Obstruction of maxillary sinus opening, one-side maxillary sinus opacification as well as decreased size of the same sinus , which is due to disturbance of the sinus ventilation and retraction of its walls. Obstruction of maxillary outlet plays a vital role to develop SSS. Treatment of this condition consist of FESS in oreder to recover the normal ventilation of the affected sinus. We report a case of 29-year old female who presented to our department with painless ''sinking right eyeball'' for around 6 months.The patient was diagnosed with SSS and was successfully treated with FESS.
