Die prinzipielle Bewertung des Potenzials von Tigecyclin geht über den Kern unseres Artikels hinaus, da in den Einsatzgebieten Pneumonie der Nachweis von Enterokokken keine Behandlungsindikation darstellt. Es trifft zu, dass es sich in der 2010 von der amerikanischen Food and Drug Association (FDA) herausgegebenen Warnung um die Gesamtletalität und nicht um die attributive Letalität handelt und daher unter Berücksichtigung des Zulassungsstatus von Tigecyclin der Unterschied in der Gesamtmortalität auf nur < 0,6 % sinkt [3].
