The Guest Editors of this issue of Seminars in Neurology are Drs. Derek Stitt and Joseph E. Safdieh.

Dr. Stitt is a junior faculty member at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, in the Division of Neurology Education, Department of Neurology. He completed medical school at the University of Kentucky prior to neurology residency at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, where he was named Chief Resident and received the Henry Woltman Award for clinical excellence. Since 2018, he has been a full-time practicing academic general neurologist with strong interests in neurological education. He is the director of the neurology residency continuity clinic. He is also a member of the core neuroscience faculty for the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine as well as the Mayo Clinic Physician Assistant training program. His department awarded him Teacher of the Year in 2020. He has additional interest in neurotoxicology, serving as recent faculty for the CNS Toxicities course at the American Academy of Neurology Annual Meeting, as well as authoring a recent Continuum article on “Drugs of Abuse and the Nervous System.”

Dr. Safdieh is Professor of Neurology at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City, the Gertrude Feil Associate Dean of Curricular Affairs, and the Vice Chair of Neurology for Education. He received both his BS and MD from New York University. He subsequently trained, both for internship and residency in neurology, at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Center. Dr. Safdieh is a widely renowned clinical neurologist and educator, and carries on the great tradition of clinical excellence at Weill Cornell. His research has focused on neurological education, migraine in women undergoing in vitro fertilization, and other topics pertaining to gender issues in neurology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Neurological Association, and has received innumerable teaching awards, both locally and internationally. He has authored many impactful original research papers, chapters, reviews, and other educational materials, and is seen as one of the true leaders in the field of education in neurology.

We greatly appreciate the efforts of Drs. Stitt and Safdieh, as well as all of the contributing authors, for their wonderful work in this issue of Seminars on Outpatient Issues in Neurology. This was quite an undertaking, and truly runs the gamut of the great variety of diseases and presentations one might see in the outpatient setting. This is sure to be a highly impactful, widely read issue, a real “keeper!” We hope you enjoy this wonderful issue!
