Erkrankungen der extrakraniellen A. carotis sind für ca. 20 % aller Schlaganfälle verantwortlich. Über die beste Behandlungsstrategie von Carotis-Stenosen wird schon lange diskutiert. In zwei Studien wurden nun die Ergebnisse der offenen Operation gegenüber Stenting im 5- bzw. 10-Jahres-Verlauf untersucht.
