Abstract

An increasing number of patients suffering of symptomatic mitral regurgitation (MR) cannot be treated with conventional surgical methods due to multiple comorbidities and advanced age. Therefore, the development of transcatheter techniques for treatment of MR in the beating heart is focus of recent research. An overview of the different repair technologies according to the anatomical target and replacement technologies (transcatheter mitral valved stents) is presented.
