Endoscopic Endonasal Transplanum Approach for a Tubero-Infundibular Craniopharyngioma in a Pediatric Patient
Authors
Case Presentation: A 2-year-old boy with adrenal insufficiency and hypothyroidism, and with history of previous transcranial surgery and Ommaya catheter placement for a tubero-infundibular craniopharyngioma at 1 year old, developed visual field and light perception abnormalities, with imaging demonstrating growth of the lesion. An endoscopic endonasal transplanum approach was used to completely resect the tumor. Postoperatively, the patient developed diabetes insipidus, without other signs of hypothalamic dysfunction, and with improvement of visual symptoms.
