Current Status of Endoluminal Grafting of the Thoracic Aorta
Publication History

ABSTRACT
Preliminary data on endovascular grafting of the thoracic aorta appear promising at this early stage. However, early results have not shown a significant decrease in morbidity, mortality, and cost despite the obvious less invasive nature when compared with standard surgical techniques. This is most likely related to the higher risks of the selected patients and still rudimentary devices used. Technologic device improvements and analysis of complications and failures will undoubtedly shed some light on the selection of the best candidates for this technology. In addition, longer follow-ups will place these devices where they belong as a new therapeutic modality in thoracic dissections and aneurysmatic disease.
