Abstract

Pseudofolliculitis is a common disease of highly chronic course and often frustrating in therapy. We report on a 25-year-old Turkish patient who suffered from a superinfected pseudofolliculitis with pili recurvati sive incarnati in the area of his beard. The patient suffered from itching and painfulness of the dermal disease and had undergone various local and systemic therapies. We decided to treat the patient with the 694 nm long pulse ruby laser. This therapy has proven to have fewer side effects compared to hair electrolysis. After a few sessions we could achieve a distinct reduction of the erythematous papules and the massive pustules.
