Sind die lateralen Schneidezähne bei Malokklusion Klasse II/2 in ihrer mesiodistalen Ausdehnung schmaler als bei Normokklusion ?

Zusammenfassung

Das Ziel dieser Studie war es, die unter einigen Kieferorthopäden [8,9] verbreitete Meinung: “Die lateralen Schneidezähne sind bei Klasse-II/2-Patienten besonders schmal” zu untersuchen. Dazu wurden Modellvermessungen bleibender Gebisse von 101 Klasse-I-Patienten und 102 Klasse-II/2-Patienten durchgeführt.

Die zwei Oberkieferschneidezähne und Oberkiefereckzähne wurden in ihrer mesiodistalen Ausdehnung vermessen, die Breiten der einzelnen Zähne zueinander in ein Verhältnis gebracht, Mittelwerte errechnet, und die Ergebnisse der beiden Gruppen miteinander verglichen. Im Anschluss wurde die Bolton-Analyse im anterioren Bereich für beide Gruppen bestimmt, um eventuelle Zahngrößendiskrepanzen bei der Klasse II/2 feststellen zu können. Dazu war es notwendig, die Breite der zwei Unterkieferschneidezähne und Unterkiefereckzähne ebenfalls zu vermessen.

Die Messdaten wurden statistisch ausgewertet. Ergebnisse:

1. Die seitlichen Schneidezähne bei Klasse-II/2-Patienten sind in ihrer mesiodistalen Ausdehnung nicht schmaler im Vergleich zu jenen der Klasse-I-Patienten.

2. Es konnte keine Zahngrößendiskrepanz im Schneidezahnbereich bei Klasse-II/2-Patienten festgestellt werden.

3. Bei 7, 8% der Klasse-II/2-Patienten waren die seitlichen Schneidezähne Zapfenzähne.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the following hypothesis, which is being advanced by several orthodontists [8,9]: “Are lateral incisors smaller in their mesiodistal width in class II division 2 patients than in class I patients”. To that end measurements of plaster casts of permanent dentitions were re-examined on 101 class I patients and 102 class II division 2 patients.

The mesiodistal width of the two upper incisors and canines were measured, the widths of the individual teeth to one another were brought into relation, mean values were calculated, and the results of each group were then compared. Subsequently an anterior analysis according to Bolton was performed for both groups to be able to determine possible tooth size discrepancies in class II division 2. For this, it was necessary to measure the width of the two lower incisors and the canines as well.

Based on these results the hypothesis cannot be confirmed, that lateral incisors are smaller in their mesiodistal width, furthermore we were not able to verify any tooth size discrepancies with malocclusion II division 2 either.

We observed that 7.8 % of class II division 2 patients had hypoplastic lateral incisors.
