Abstract
Injuries of peripheral nerves are seldom but well known complications in general surgery
and anesthesia. Their recovery is mostly good. Direct trauma due to surgery itself
or positioning associated lesions count for the vast majority of cases. We report
a patient who underwent laparoscopy for sterilisation in general anesthesia which
was followed by a lesion of the right cutaneous femoral lateral nerve. Mechanisms
of injury are discussed as well as aspects of medical litigation arising from this
case.
