Abstract
Latex allergy is a phenomena of the last decade of the 20th century, because the prevalence of natural rubber latex (NRL) has reached epidemic proportions among workers who use or who are exposed to powdered latex products for e. g. AIDS prophylaxis. NRL allergy has become a widespread concern that has extensive health and economic implications and results in intensive scientific efforts to identify the allergen source, to establish sufficient diagnosis and preventive strategies.
