Zusammenfassung

Obwohl medizinische Informationssysteme heute immer stärker in den klinischen Alltag implementiert werden, ist ihr tatsächliches Innovationspotenzial noch nicht annähernd ausgeschöpft. So könnten solche Systeme die Dokumentation im Sinne des effektiven Managements von Patientenakten und -dokumenten unterstützen. Möglich wäre es aber auch, mit ihrer Hilfe die Organisation des Termin-, Auftrags- und Workflowmanagements oder die Kommunikation mit internen und externen Partnen zu verbessern. Ein potenzieller Einsatzbereich könnte auch in der Unterstützung des ärztlichen Handelns und des Wissensmanagements liegen. Voraussetzung für entsprechende Funktionen ist jedoch ein prozessorientiertes medizinisches Informationssystem, in dem auch eine digitale Krankenakte integriert ist. Im Vordergrund steht dabei immer der unterstützende Aspekt des Informationssystems - elektronische Automatismen ersetzen die Handlungsautonomie des Arztes nicht, sie schränken diese auch nicht ein. Damit können medizinisch orientierte klinische Informationssysteme einen wesentlichen Beitrag zu einer modernen Gesundheitsversorgung leisten und zu einem ähnlich effektiven Instrument werden, wie es bereits die Verfahren der medizinisch-technischen Informatik sind.

Summary

Although medical information systems are increasingly being integrated into the everyday clinical situation, their true innovation potential has by no means been exhausted. Such systems could, for example, support documentation by enabling effective management of patient records and documents. Another possibility would be improving the organization of appointments, orders and workflow management, or communication with internal and external partners. A potential field of use would be supporting medical activities and the management of information. A prerequisite for relevant functions is, however, a processor-orientated medical information system in which digital patients' records are also integrated. The main emphasis is, however, on the supporting function of such systems - digital automatism cannot replace the physician's autonomy of action, nor may it restrict it in any way. Under this proviso, medically-oriented clinical information systems can make a major contribution to modern health care, and become just as effective an instrument as medical technological informatics already are.
