Objectives: The primary objective of this investigator iniated trial is to evaluate the relapse rates after treatment with the 308 nm excimer laser in combination with dithranol or vitamin D analoga in patients with plaque type psoriasis. Secondary objectives of the study are to profile the reduction of the length of stay in hospital and the relapse rates of psoriasis. Methodology: A randomized, blind, standard treatment controlled, within-patient, mono-center study of the treatment with the 308 nm excimer laser weekly at a dose of 3 MED and adjusted depending on response until clearing-up or up to a maximum of 10 treatments in combination with dithranol or vitamin D analoga in a cross-over design (n=80). Evaluation criteria: Efficacy: Rating scales of erythema, induration and scaling each on the five point PASI score. Total Sign Score defined as the sum of these measurements. Response (defined in terms of PASI 75, a 75% improvement in PASI score). Safety: Adverse events, physical examination, local tolerability, blood pressure, pulse rate, hematology, blood biochemistry and urinanalysis.
