ABSTRACT
The roles of the coagulopathies in thrombosis have been well established; however,
the role in ischemic stroke is poorly understood. This article reviews the recent
advances in the genetics of coagulation, the recently identified interactive roles
of the coagulation and anticoagulation proteins, and the literature supporting protein
dysregulation as a causative agent in cerebral venous thrombosis and ischemic stroke.
