Zusammenfassung

Der Verfasser führt aus, daß die Totalität der Symptome zwar die Entscheidung bei der Mittelwahl bringt, daß der Verschreiber aber, bevor er das Krankheitsbild mit den Symptomenreihen der zu wählenden Arznei vergleichen konnte, durch ein Leitsymptom ("Keynote") auf diese Arznei aufmerksam gemacht wurde. Ein solches Leitsymptom ist häufig eine genau lokalisierte und beschriebene Empfindung des Patienten. Verwechslungen dieses Begriffes mit den für die Repertorisation angeblich unwichtigen Lokalsymptomen ("Particulars") Kents werden richtig gestellt.

Summary

The totality of the Symptoms is the basis for the selection of the remedy; but it is not the totality that directs our mind to a certain drug. Some prominent feature or marked Symptom out of the totality, some keynote, leads us to think of the remedy first. Then only can we compare the totalities. Such a keynote is very often a localized and graphically described Sensation of the patient, with other words, a characteristic according to section 153 of the organon.
