Although many processes of the midface and nasopharynx can be removed endoscopically, external approaches are still indicated in cases of extended frontal skull base dehiscence or large malignant tumors as well as in cases of complications after endonasal surgery. We report our experience in treatment of benign and malignant processes such as transethmoidal and trans-sphenoidal meningoceles, juvenile angiofibromas, and tumors of the paranasal sinus using proper external approaches such as lateral rhinotomy and midfacial degloving, which provide good access to the process and minimal cosmetic disturbance.
