Summary

A 44-year-old woman complaining of thoracic back pain was found to have a large mediastinal leiomyosarcoma. This was completely excised. No adjuvant treatment was given. Follow-up after 24 months showed no evidence of disease. For these rare tumours surgery offers the best treatment, although local recurrence and metastases do occur.

Zusammenfassung

Bei einer 44jährigen Patientin mit Rückenschmerzen wurde ein großes Leiomyosarkom im vorderen oberen Mediastinum gefunden, das dem Aortenbogen anlag. Dieses wurde chirur gisch vollständig entfernt. Die Patientin bekam keine zusätzli che Behandlung. Zwei Jahre postoperativ ist sie noch immer gesund und ohne Hinweise auf ein Rezidiv. Diese seltenen Tu moren werden am besten chirurgisch behandelt, obwohl loka le Rezidive und Metastasen auftreten können.
