Summary

We review our own experience with the treatment of “traumatic flail chest syndrome”, introducing a new technique for rib fixation. Eighteen cases are presented; 8 of them were treated using this technique developed by us. This procedure of surgical rib fixation is a valuable and helpful adjunct to mechanical ventilation.
