Abstract
The aim of this literature review was to answer to the following question: Is there a scientific justification for the manipulation ban for physiotherapists in the canton Bern or is this rather a matter of professional policy? The studies found through a structured literature search and interviews with experts failed to deliver any evidence that physiotherapists wit additional training in manipulative physiotherapy cause more critical incidents than other occupational groups. Therefore it must be assumed that the manipulation ban originates in professional policy and conflict of interests.
