Polyamory - von dem Versprechen, viele zu lieben

Übersicht:

Polyamory ist ein Beziehungskonzept, das es ermöglicht, sexuelle und / oder Liebesbeziehungen mit mehreren PartnerInnen gleichzeitig einzugehen. Voraussetzung ist, dass alle Beteiligten um den nicht-monogamen Charakter der Beziehungen wissen und diesen befürworten. Offenheit, Kommunikation und Konsensfindung sind zentrale Werte dieser Beziehungsphilosophie und begründen ihren ethischen Anspruch. Polyamory hat ihre Wurzeln in der feministischen Kritik an Zwangsehe und Zwangsmonogamie und in den Experimenten der 1960er-Jahre mit nicht-monogamen Lebensweisen in verschiedenen Subkulturen. Heute wird Polyamory vielfach mit New Age, Esoterik und dem Wunsch nach Spiritualität und alternativen Lebensweisen assoziiert. Der Autor gibt einen Überblick über die Entstehung und Verbreitung von polyamorösen Beziehungen und über die wichtigsten Kontroversen innerhalb dieser subkulturellen Bewegung. Er diskutiert die einflussreichsten populärwissenschaftlichen Ratgeber sowie die wichtigsten akademischen Forschungsarbeiten.

1 Wie ich später noch im Detail darlegen werde, stammt der Begriff Polyamory aus dem englischen Sprachraum. Da sich auch die Diskussion in der deutschsprachigen Polyszene auf den englischen Begriff bezieht und Eindeutschungen selten verwendet werden, werde ich in dieser deutschen Publikation von Polyamory sprechen.

4 In der sozialwissenschaftlichen und politischen Debatte im anglophonen Sprachraum gibt es einen breiten Konsens, dass es sich bei „Race” um ein wirkmächtiges soziales Konstrukt im Dienste rassistischer Sichtweisen und Praxen handelt. Eine solche Haltung manifestiert sich zum Beispiel in dem gängigen Konzept der „racialisation” (Rassialisierung) (Murji and Solomos 2005). Von einem solchen Verständnis kann in Deutschland nicht unbedingt ausgegangen werden. Um mich von einem Diskurs, der „Rasse” als biologische Realität versteht, zu distanzieren, verwende ich den Begriff „Race”.

5 Der Begriff der Machtvermeidung wird von Jin Haritaworn in Anlehnung an Ruth Frankenbergs (1993) Konzept der power evasiveness verwendet. Er beschreibt die Weigerung relativ privilegierter Subjekte, sich mit Dominanzverhältnissen auseinanderzusetzen (Haritaworn 2005 a, 2005 b).
