Abstract
A growing number of people suffer from lower back pain. While many patients recover completely after an episode of acute back pain, in others lumbar pain persists permanently. In this process psychosocial risk factors such as fear-avoidance behaviour often develop.
This literature review explores the questions why certain patients still have pain and activity restrictions after wound healing and how fear avoidance behaviour influences patients with lumbar complaints.
