Zusammenfassung
Die nicht invasive Ventilation (NIV) schlägt ein neues Kapitel in der Intensivmedizin auf. Als eigenständige Therapieform bietet sie betroffenen Patienten mehr Komfort und hilft, schwerwiegende Komplikationen durch tracheale Beatmung zu vermeiden. Voraussetzung hierfür ist neben dem entsprechenden Equipment in erster Linie die intensive Schulung des Pflegepersonals. In diesem Zusammenhang spielt auch und gerade die benötigte Zeit, die vor allem zu Beginn der Therapie für den Patienten aufgewendet werden muss, eine entscheidende Rolle.
