Chinesische Medizin in der Krebsbehandlung

Zusammenfassung

Die Methoden der chinesischen Medizin zielen in erster Linie darauf ab, den Organismus in seiner Gesamtheit zu stärken. Hierzu werden verschiedene pflanzliche Präparate gemäß ihrer „Wirkqualität” verwendet, aber auch die Akupunktur, die Moxibustion, Qigong, Diätetik etc. Es existiert zwar eine Vielzahl chinesischer Untersuchungen zur Verwendung besonderer Heilkräuterrezepturen während der Chemotherapie, in vielen Fällen ist die Validität der zumeist positiven Aussagen jedoch unklar. Ein signifikanter Benefit der Akupunktur lässt sich anhand mehrerer Studien zur Beeinflussung der Chemotherapienebenwirkungen verifizieren. Insbesondere der Akupunkturpunkt Pe 6 hemmte bei Brustkrebspatientinnen signifikant die Chemotherapie-induzierte Übelkeit mit Brechreiz sowie das Erbrechen. Methoden der chinesischen Medizin können durchaus als Ergänzung zur konventionellen Krebsbehandlung in Frage kommen. Zum tatsächlichen Nutzen der besonderen Verfahren der TCM im westlichen Kontext besteht jedoch ein deutlicher Forschungsbedarf.

[Chinese Medicine in the Treatment of Cancer]

The methods of Chinese Medicine aim primarily on the strengthening of the organism in its whole entity. For this purpose, various medical herbs were used depending on their respective medical principles, but also acupuncture, moxibustion, qigong, dietetics etc. Despite of a multitude of Chinese studies on the application of herbal recipes during chemotherapy, in several cases the validity of the mostly positive statements remains unclear. A significant benefit could be verified in several studies aiming to improve the side effects of chemotherapy. Particularly the acupuncture point Pe 6 significantly reduced chemotherapy induced nausea, vomiting and retching. Methods of Chinese Medicine could be considered as a possible add-on of conventional cancer treatment. To assess the actual benefit of the specific TCM treatments in a Western context, there is a strong need for further research.
