Eosinophile Fasziitis - Diagnostik und Therapie

Abstract

A 79-year-old woman with eosinophilic fasciitis is discussed. Typical signs and symptoms consisted in non acral swelling, induration and pulling sensation in the extremities. There was also peripheral blood eosinophilia. After histological confirmation of the diagnosis the patient was started on corticosteroids. An additional low dose Methotrexate therapy was unsuccessful in reducing the corticosteroid dose. Chloroquine is now being added for the purpose of steroid reduction.

Zusammenfassung

Es wird über eine 79jährige Patientin mit eosinophiler Fasziitis berichtet. Die typischen Symptome bestanden in ziehenden Schmerzen, Anschwellen und Verhärtung der Extremitäten (nicht-akral) und Bluteosinophilie. Nach histologischer Bestätigung der Diagnose wurde eine Therapie mit Glukokortikoiden eingeleitet. Durch eine ergänzende Behandlung mit niedrig dosiertem Methotrexat konnte die erstrebte Reduktion der Kortikosteroiddosis nicht erreicht werden. Methotrexat wurde daraufhin zugunsten eines Therapieversuchs mit Chloroquin abgesetzt.
