Abstract

Locally advanced pelvic malignancies are typically managed by radiation and chemotherapy with modest results, and high rates of local and nodal failure. Regional chemotherapy offers the opportunity for downstaging these tumors to the point of resectability and possibly improving nodal control. Long-term survival benefit remains to be demonstrated.
