Metallic Stents in the Treatment of Patients with Malignant Biliary Obstruction

Abstract

This article describes the common indications, procedural techniques, different types of metallic stents, patient preparation, and complications for placement of metallic stents. Particular emphasis is made on hilar lesions and treatment of complications including bleeding and the occluded stent. Clinical results are outlined.
