Impotenz: Komplikationen der Autoinjektionstherapie

Zusammenfassung

Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht die bisher publizierten Studien zur Autoinjektionstherapie der erektilen Dysfunktion mit der Kombination von Papaverin und Phentolamin im Hinblick auf Auftreten und Schweregrad aufgetretener Komplikationen.

Im Vordergrund stehen die bei etwa 10% der Patienten überwiegend während der Einstellung auftretenden prolongierten Erektionen und die bei höchstens 3% der Patienten im Rahmen der Dauerbehandlung auftretenden fibrotischen Veränderungen der Tunica albuginea oder des Corpus cavernosum.

Diese Übersicht führt zu dem Ergebnis, daß der Nutzen der Autoinjektionstherapie ihre möglichen Risiken und Komplikationen deutlich übertrifft.

Abstract

This paper is intended to review the results of clinical trials on autoinjection therapy using papaverine and phenotolamine with regard to occurence and severity of complications. The most prominent side effects were prolonged erection (˜ 10% of patients) which preferably is seen during dose adjustment, and fibrosis of the corpus cavernosum or the tunica albuginea which affects about 3% of the patients during longterm-therapy.

It is concluded that the benefit for the patient carrying out autoinjection therapy for erectile dysfunction is much higher compared to the potential risks and complications.
