Tubuläre Ektasie des Rete testis
Tubular Ectasia of the Rete testisPublication History
Publication Date:
19 March 2008 (online)
Abstract
Introduction: Tubular ectasia of the rete testis is a benign condition of cystic dilatation of the rete testis. A strong association exists between tubular ectasia and the presence of one or more ipsilateral spermatoceles. Case Report: The case of a 49-year-old male with tubular ectasia is presented and the typical sonographic appearance is described. Without any therapy the condition remained stable for two years of follow-up. Conclusions: In the case of doubtless sonographical diagnosis, missing palpable intratesticular mass and ipsilateral spermatoceles the appearance of tubular ectasia should not be mistaken for malignancy. Further diagnostic investigations and surgical exploration of the testicle are, therefore, not necessary.
