Abstract

One hundred patients (43 males and 57 females) with clinically and radiologically diagnosed uni- or bilateral degenerative arthritis of the hip-joint were studied for possible lesions of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve and the sensory cutaneous branch of the obturator nerve. Of 29 patients (15 females, 14 males) with positive neurological findings, 17 (8 males, 9 females) had a more or less marked hyposensitivity in the area of distribution of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, while seven (four males, three females) had true meralgia paraesthetica and eight (four males, four females) hyposensitivity in the autonomic area of the obturator nerve.
