Vor gut 15 Jahren fassten die kanadischen Psychologen Delroy Paulhus und Kevin Williams die Persönlichkeitsmerkmale Narzissmus, Machiavellismus und Psychopathie als „Dunkle Triade der Persönlichkeit“ zusammen. Der mystisch anmutende Begriff verweist auf eine neugierige Hinwendung zu unliebsamen oder bedrohlichen Aspekten menschlichen Erlebens und Verhaltens – zum „Bösen“. Die Dunkle Triade zog in Forschung und Öffentlichkeit große Faszination auf sich.
